Dear Tumblr:
Please stop hiring more graphic designers. You have enough. Try trading some of them for programmers. Maybe fix some of your bugs and give us the functionality that we’ve been getting from browser add-ons instead of re-designing all the buttons. Re-designing buttons is not helping.
Sincerely,
Everyone
I hate it when I’m on other web sites and I can’t find the “automatically scroll back to the top of the page” button.
Dealing With Haters
The last week or so, I’ve seen people become very upset on Tumblr because there are a few people out there who make a hobby of spewing irrational hatred towards public figures. (Specifically, I’ve seen this aimed at Jared Padalecki and John Green, this week. It’ll be someone else next week.)
The people spewing this hatred are mentally unstable. They will not be reasoned with. Do not engage them in conversation. Do not tag them in any posts.
- Block them.
- Report them for harassment.
- Then forget them.
Arguing with them is like trying to reason with a rabid monkey. Don’t waste your time. The block button is there for your own sanity. Use it. The less attention their antics receive, the faster they’ll shut up and move on to something else.
Scumbag Tumblr.

Uses a theme with a tiny font, light pastel text on slightly lighter background.
I go to the knitting tag. It is filled with crochet.
I go to the hamster tag. It is filled with guinea pigs.
How do people not know the difference?
I don’t care what you say about Facebook. It’s a great place to nostalgically remember what was popular on Tumblr 3 weeks ago.
I have 2 computers. I have a regular laptop and a little netbook I use for writing in bed.
I installed missing e on my laptop. I did not install it on my netbook. Then I started getting Tumblr’s missing e nag messages ON MY NETBOOK, which DID NOT HAVE MISSING E INSTALLED.
So I decided that if I’m going to be nagged and harassed about using missing e, might as well install it on my netbook too.
Good job keeping me from using missing e, Tumblr.
They need more options for the “ignore” feature on Tumblr. ”Spam” and “harassment” are fine, but could we also add “too stupid to live”?
If you get reported as stupid too many times, you have to go back to facebook. Or maybe your icon gets a dunce cap on it, as a warning.
I went into my queue to edit something and when I tried to edit a queued post, it did this. And hung like that forever. I ended up having to refresh tumblr, delete the queued post and re-queue it.
But I’m sure that’s somehow a great new feature, not a bug.
On photosets on your dash, is anyone else having a problem where you click on the bigger photos for a closer look, and it shows the previous pic in the set off to the left, but it no longer shows the next one to click on to the right? I end up having to close the viewer and click on each pic individually.
Obligatory question mark?
