Yes, I really did keep track of every location in every episode and calculate the mileage.

Some locations are completely unknown, and therefore not plotted on the map.  If I knew the state, but not the location within the state, I used the city closest to the geographic center of the state.

Note: this is just where the Impala went.  That’s why Season 7 is so short and it doesn’t show their trip to Scotland in season 6.

This is great, really it is, but um… Did the Impala really drive THROUGH the Gulf of Mexico, The Atlantic Ocean, and the Great Lakes? Because that seem like it would be murder on the engine.

Well we don’t exactly know which route they took so this would be the shortest possible route. Imagine the mileage if it was the actual map @.@

The driving distances are based on driving distance calculations from some map site.  I forget which one I used.  But the map was just me being lazy.  I’m pretty sure they used roads.  And don’t forget that this doesn’t include any unknown locations or driving within a city, so this is still bare minimal distance driven.  They almost certainly traveled further than this.
